While the initial cost to purchase an EV might be more than a traditional internal combustion engine vehicle (ICE), a recent report by Clean Energy Canada has found that total ownership costs of an EV — including depreciation, fuel costs, servicing and maintenance — are markedly lower than for an ICE vehicle.
